Probably the fastest growing division within the accounting industry
Self Managed Super Funds (SMSF) are fraught with danger to
the unsophisticated investor.
The multitude of negative press published recently about accountants
“pushing products” on clients is enough to make many turn away
from self management entirely.
But – the reality is that Self Managed Superannuation
is a fantastic product for some clients allowing them to flexibly control
where they invest their retirement savings, whether in:
- Shares or
- Other assets
Bartley Partners does not sell products, nor take kick backs
or commission incentives from financial planners
(or put financial planners on staff to sell to our clients).
We are an independent accounting firm without an agenda.
We are ASIC certified to discuss SMSF’s.
Bartley Partners team can work with your existing financial planner
and ensure what is done in your SMSF is tax effective and financially viable.
Pictured to the right demonstrates how an SMSF is a good way for a family
(remember limited to four people) can pool their investments in certain circumstances.
Four brothers, Matthew, Mark, Luke & John all have varying amounts of Super
but all decide to open up an SMSF for their future.
Matthew via his job as a sharebroker works on the share portfolio investment side
of the fund while the other three brothers as builders select the property assets of the fund.
Given they all have varying degrees of ownership in the fund they all receive
a rate of return based on the percentage of assets they own so there can be no favouritism.
Their accountants track the progress of the investments and give them
their updated unit holdings each year.
By self managing and pooling their talents they have a diversified,
secure and far cheaper alternative than standard commercial funds offer.
All structure setups are done in tandem with some of Adelaide’s top
legal professionals to ensure your structure minimises taxation,
provides for asset protection and factors in your estate planning needs.
Self Managed Superannuation Funds are a tool, useful to some,
a waste of time for others. If you think an SMSF would be
