ASIC is the Australian corporate regulator that is responsible for the creation, maintenance of corporations as well as monitoring legal compliance of companies and their directors. ASIC is in the media most frequently for pursuing directors for conduct such as insolvent trading, unlicensed activities, and insider trading.
Bartley Partners is an authorised ASIC agent so we can assist you with all manner of ASIC issues whether minor or major. We are also licensed with ASIC under RG146 to be able to provide specialist SMSF advice.
For small businesses the general contact you will have with ASIC will be:
– Registering a company for which ASIC charges $469. Worth noting there will also be legal and accounting fees, expect to pay around $1100 for a good quality company registration with all the bells and whistles. That said, there’s always cheap crap available online which will cost you a lot less, but like most things in life, you will get what you pay for.
– Annual review fees of $249 per year by ASIC to maintain your company on the corporate register. Worth noting ASIC charges heavy penalties which it will also never waive, ensure this is paid on time to avoid nondeductible fines.
– Ensuring you maintain a registered office for the business. We provide a registered office service for our clients who operate home-based businesses and cannot guarantee opening times.
